Created in 1853 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, Eau de Cologne Impériale was Guerlain’s first cologne.

It was made especially for Empress Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon III, earning its creator the title “Perfumer to Her Majesty.”

The Empress enjoyed exclusive use of this perfume until she allowed it to be sold to the public.

The label features the Empire’s symbol with the coat of arms chosen by Napoleon: the eagle, the imperial crown, and the scepter.

The bottle is adorned with a swarm of 69 bees, a symbol of the Napoleonic Empire and the emblem of Guerlain’s “Eaux” family.

Upon request, customers can have the bottle personalized with a handmade gold bath or decorated with initials.
